Happy New Year from Silver Stars Nation! It’s mid January and things
are finally about to get active for WNBA teams, free agency has
begun! The Silver Stars currently have only five players under
contract, Becky Hammon, Sophia Young, Helen Darling, Megan Frazee
and Laura Harper. The Silver Stars exercised their option on
Laura Harper through 2011 so expect this to be a very active free
agency period for the Stars.
Ruth Riley is our lone unrestricted free agent.
Edwidge Lawson Wade and Belinda Snell are both restricted free
agents and Shanna Crossley is a reserved free agent.
Ann Wauters has been cored.
One thing to remember, the salary cap for the 2010 season has been
reduced by $28,000.

Becky Hammon Birthday Charity Drive – It’s that time to
once again start sending in your donations for Becky’s Birthday
Charity. This year Becky has chosen her donation to go to The
Battered Women’s and Children’s Shelter. We have about seven weeks
to raise as much as we can (our goal is to top the $2,000.00 we
raised last year) so please don’t wait, get in your donations now! I
realize times are difficult, but no matter how difficult it is for
us, the women and children at this shelter are having it even more
difficult. So remember, $5, $10, $15, $20 or $25.00 will go a long
way towards helping out some people in desperate need. For complete
information about the Battered Women’s and Children’s Shelter and
how to donate visit our MB at
