EdwigeLawson.com: Une semaine difficile
EdwigeLawson.com: One difficult week {translated}

Quote:
Last week has been a very difficult week. The assassination of Shabtaï Kalmanovitch was a shock for everyone. Shabtaï was so present in our life of every day that when the news was announced to us, I had much evil to realize. The day before, we had passed an excellent evening in a restaurant géorgien with him. It did all so that the players feel well, especially the foreign ones who are far from their family. Useless to explain at which point the players were devastated…

But there was not only that. Shabtaï one was impassioned of basketball and did all in its capacity for the formation of the Russian basketball. Spartak is not only Taurasi, Bird and Lauren Jackson. It is especially a school of basketball where it made come from the coaches, physical trainers who deal with a team of ten young girls who will be the future of the Russian basketball. It also recovered people who did not have anything any more to live and their a work gave, a chance to live… One heard all many things on Shabtaï, he was a character, it is sure. But this week, me was told all that it did for people in the need.

Last Wednesday, all came to say to him goodbye and deposit flowers on his coffin. And all cried the loss of a father. Its nickname here was “papa”. Afterwards, we travelled by plane for the funeral which took place Thursday in Israel. All the family and close relatives were once more brought together for a very beautiful and moving Jewish ceremony. Now, the life continues, the drive begin again, the matches also but not a day passes when his name is not mentioned…

A note yesterday on the Becky Hammon Russian fan site said that Kalmonovich's wife is or was to give some sort of interview and discuss the team. That should be interesting to read about.
